Real Talk, an explosive Baltimore rap duo, consists of artists Pinpoint and T.M.K.A.D ( the man known as D). Some would consider them relatively new to the rap scene, but for those in the know this is far from the case. In 1999, along with several other members, T.M.K.A.D( pronounced T-M kad) formed a rap group entitled H.B.C ( HellBoundClique). Originally this group consisted of at least a dozen emcee's nationwide and had a very dominant presence on the internet, encompassing sites such as www.freestyleuniverse.net, which was somewhat popular at the time. The primary focus of the groups on sites such as these were mostly “text-battles” as well as to record and then upload music for others to review. Around 2002, Pinpoint was added to H.B.C as they had decided to take a different direction and focus on the local scene of the founding members, each hailing from Baltimore.
Pinpoint met another rapper while attending college by the name of Only. They were mostly casual acquaintances, but became well aware that they each were aspiring rappers, and would sometimes participate in friendly freestyle battles between classes. Their friendship wasn’t the strongest at the time, but it would prove to be an important meeting for the two of them.
After a few years of running Supreme Ent., and still being in the group HBC, It seemed like some changes needed to be made. Pinpoint and T.M.K.A.D both wanted to focus more on the quality of recorded music and reach out to become a larger part of the Baltimore rap community. Selling Cd’s, and performing didn’t seem to be taking them where they had hoped it would, and their name hadn’t grown as far as they would have liked. The two talked about networking with others a lot, and although they had built themselves a nice promotional team, it always felt like they could do more.
Only advised the duo of a very powerful network that existed within Baltimore “ The Spitters Club” which was led by Shaka Pitts, a professional sound engineer with industry credits. They felt this was a great idea, and the goals of the club pretty much met the goals that they, themselves, had tried to reach by creating their own network. It seemed as if all the pieces were in place, and with that Pinpoint and T.M.K.A.D joined Only's squad ( G.H.G.H Music) as well as The Spitters Club. HBC was no longer a relevant title for the group, so they changed their name to “Real Talk” as it very much represented these two artists more specifically, and what they stood for. And the rest is what I guess they call History. Real Talk is in full-swing, and has become quite an asset to The Spitters Club as well as GHGH Music. Real Talk has wrapped the recording for their first mix-tape “ Full Negrocity Vol. 1” which releases April 1st, 2011. Each emcee is currently writing for their 1-st ever solo mix-tapes and there are so many other things in the working. T.M.K.A.D is a very talented photographer in Baltimore, and has taken many great photos of other artists in the community, but also takes the time to do personal photo shoots of families, individuals etc. Pinpoint and Only have begun to explore the possibilities of videography, and T.M.KA.D along with pinpoint and partner Krackstar, continue to produce quality instrumentals under the title Disnika productions. Real Talk is just that, and their future looks to be a bright one. If you haven’t already visited their website, take the time to do so at www.realtalkmusic.com
