Well it looks like we will reach a hundred users today and I have to say I like this new version, the .net version of MusicIndustryBook.com.
I think my favorite thing about it is the "Latest Activity" module on the front page where i can check back a couple times a day and see exactly what has taken place while I was gone. First thing in the morning there is always some new music right right up front and all I have to do is hit play. It is also nice to check out some new photos, videos, groups etc. i don't have to go searching for it it is right there on the front page. I have asked
SmallWorldLabs, the company who makes
MusicIndustryBook.com, if they have a similar module but they have not responded to my request.
Another thing I like about this new platform, and I have heard many others express this as well, is how easy it is to upload Video, Audio, and Photos. The Bulk Uploader is nice, compatible with Yahoo's Flickr photo service, and being that this is a music site, it is nice to know that 100 songs of a 20mb max EACH can be uploaded. Also, this site, the .net version of MusicIndustryBook is the only one you can Upload your own Video to. SmallWorldLabs charges 5000.00 to add a Video gallery and enable video uploading, whereas here on NING it is free. Guess you will just have to upload your video here!
One other feature I would like to point out is the Badges. on the right column of your pages it says "MusicIndustryBook Badge". Make sure to check these out as they are very useful. For instance, you are able to get embed code for your Photo Slideshow Player, Audio Player, and/or Video Player that you can place on any website, myspace page etc. So if you are looking to spice up your website, use these! You can control what the players display.
Features like these are what I was hoping for from SmallWorldLabs for the MusicIndustryBook.com site, but I have now realized how behind they are with their technology. This is a case where the phrase "You get what you pay for" is the furthest thing from the truth. The truth here is, these
NING networks are free, easy to set up, and in my opinion far superior other networks you can spend a lot of money on.
I would like to hear your opinions! Are you a member of both Musicindustrybook.com and Musicindustrybook.net? Wat are the things you like and don't like about each site?
