Kris here, just launched this new version of MusicIndustryBook today! It expands on the original
MusicIndustryBook.com. The Original MusicIndustryBook exists within the
SmallworldLabs platform, and this new version uses the
NING platform.
Why would you make another version of the same site? Good question! This whole crazy concept of "Social Networking" has resulted in many different platforms arising such as
NING, FLUX, KICKAPPS, to name a few. Now, anybody can make their own "Social Network" that could deal with any topic imaginable! Building your network on these sites 100% free, and you can set them up yourself in minutes.
Why not see for yourself? Set up your own network right now if you want, there should be a link to do so at the top left of this page!
It's no wonder everybody and their dog has a "New Social Network" these days, all choosing one of these platforms. Why not have a version of your network on each platform? Maybe someone likes the
NING platform because their other favorite network is run by
NING and they are familiar with the navigation. Someone else likes the
KickApps Version, of course there will always be someone who prefers the original
SmallWorldLabs version. Keep in mind, most these Social Network Platforms are pretty much FREE now, and can be set up by yourself in minutes. (I set up this version of MusicIndustryBook in about 20 minutes) They all offer different widgets, gadget, and what have you.
After one year it will be interesting to see what platform gets the most use and has the most success!
Obviously the next question is, "so that means I have to sign up for a bunch of different websites then right?"
Dataportability is a concept where you would have one ID that would contain all of your info that you could take from network to network. Here is more info on
DataPortability here is an interesting
VIDEO as well!
One would think Dataportability is just around the corner.
Good Luck!
Kris
